About Yoco Payment Gateway

Payments on this website are processed through Yoco, a South African payment gateway service. Yoco is a licensed payment processor that enables businesses to accept card payments securely online. All payment transactions are handled by Yoco in compliance with South African financial regulations.

02

Currency and Pricing

All product prices, delivery amounts, order totals, payment requests and refunds are displayed and processed exclusively in South African Rand (ZAR). No alternative-currency checkout is offered.

Although Yoco can accept payments from customers worldwide, all transactions are processed in South African Rand (ZAR) from within South Africa.

03

Payment Processing

After you place a ZAR order, you are redirected to Yoco's secure hosted payment page. Your card details are entered directly on Yoco's secure, encrypted platform and are never transmitted through or stored on our servers.

Payment is only treated as complete after our server receives and validates the payment confirmation from Yoco. Returning to our website alone does not confirm that payment succeeded.

Transaction Fee: Yoco charges 2.95% (excl. VAT) per successful transaction for local South African card payments.

04

Payment Security

Yoco processes payments over an encrypted connection using industry-standard SSL/TLS encryption. Key security measures include:

  • PCI DSS Compliance: Yoco maintains Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance
  • 3D Secure: Support for card authentication protocols like 3D Secure for additional fraud protection
  • Real-time Fraud Monitoring: Yoco employs fraud detection systems to protect against unauthorized transactions
  • Encrypted Transactions: All data transmitted between your browser and Yoco's servers is encrypted

We do not store complete card numbers, expiry dates, or CVV codes on our servers. All sensitive payment data remains with Yoco and is never accessible to our systems.

05

Failed or Declined Payments

If a payment is declined, please:

  • Verify that your billing information matches the details registered with your bank
  • Confirm your card has sufficient funds or credit available
  • Ensure your card is not expired or blocked by your bank
  • Check that the CVV code entered is correct

If you believe you were charged multiple times for one order, please contact us immediately with your order number and transaction references so we can investigate and resolve the issue.

Transactions may occasionally be delayed or declined due to fraud, security, or bank verification controls. If a transaction is declined, please contact your bank directly for more information.

06

Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

A chargeback (payment dispute) occurs when a customer asks their bank or card issuer to reverse a charge. Common reasons for chargebacks include:

  • Cardholder does not recognize the transaction
  • Duplicate transaction processing
  • Goods or services not delivered
  • Defective or unsatisfactory goods
  • Refund not processed correctly
  • Fraudulent use of card

If a chargeback is raised against your order:

  1. Yoco's acquiring bank will notify us of the chargeback and reason
  2. We will contact you via email with details and request supporting documentation
  3. You will have 3 working days to provide required documentation (invoices, proof of delivery, etc.)
  4. We will submit supporting documentation to Yoco's acquiring bank
  5. The bank will make a decision based on the evidence provided

If the chargeback is upheld and documentation is insufficient, the transaction amount may be debited from your settlement.

07

Refunds

Approved refunds are processed in ZAR through Yoco. Key points:

  • Refunds are returned to the original payment method (card) used for the transaction
  • Yoco refunds are checked against the provider's refundable balance before submission
  • Bank and card processing times may apply after a refund is approved (typically 5-10 business days)
  • Refund eligibility is subject to our Returns & Refunds Policy

For detailed information about return eligibility, timeframes, and procedures, please read our Returns & Refunds Policy.

08

Prohibited Businesses

Yoco's services may not be used for certain business types. Please note that we do not process payments for prohibited business categories as defined by Yoco's terms of service.

09

Your Rights and Responsibilities

By using our Yoco-powered checkout, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate billing information matching your registered card details
  • Ensure sufficient funds are available at the time of purchase
  • Keep your payment credentials secure and not share them with unauthorized parties
  • Report any unauthorized transactions immediately

We reserve the right to cancel orders suspected of fraud or violation of these terms.

10

Downtime and Service Availability

Yoco's payment services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While Yoco maintains industry-leading uptime, occasional system maintenance or technical issues may temporarily affect payment processing.

If you experience issues during checkout, please wait a few minutes and try again, or contact our support team for assistance.
